ADR Carriage of Dangerous Goods & Services
Dangerous Goods Safety Adviser of BP
BP in Cyprus operates a high standard distribution network that includes a BP owned import and storage onshore terminal in Larnaca, and also hires further storage from Cyprus Petroleum Storage Company, the former Cyprus refinery. In March 2013, BP in Cyprus appointed Nortest to be their Dangerous Goods Safety Adviser.
As a result of the European Agreement Concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road (ADR) and the EC Directive 96/35/EC, undertakings involved in the transport and physical loading of dangerous goods have been required to appoint qualified Dangerous Goods Safety Advisers (DGSA). Companies who load or transport dangerous goods beyond the thresholds laid down in the regulations need to appoint a safety adviser to guide them on the legal, safety and environmental aspects of the transport of dangerous goods.
Our role as the DGSA of BP is to provide them with advice about the proper safety equipment which must accompany each of their vehicles, about the personal safety equipment for each of their drivers, the loading / unloading of the dangerous goods and their relevant activities including the preparation of their annual report.
